literally shaking
No, this isn't my morning routine, how dare you. I just want to share a few practices that have helped me feel human during the past few months, in the absence of regular bodywork like massage and acupuncture.
- Kim Eng's Shaking video: OK, so for real, I do this every day. If I don't have time to do yoga or go for a walk, this helps me literally shake the yah-yah's out and reset. My daughter does it with me too, the "letting out sounds" part makes her crack up.
- I jump on my rebounder for 2-3 minutes. It drains the lymph and keeps your joints healthy. I bought a cheap one and it doubles as a trampoline for my daughter in her room.
- So this is something I started recently and it's something I do other night now. Sometimes taking a bath is a whole to-do and it's hotter than hell here right now so it's not super enticing. Instead, in the evening, I'll do a foot bath with Epsom salts. Wow, what? A foot bath? Have I turned into a middle-aged Mum? Yes. But really, don't sleep on this! Booze just isn't hittin' the same after 6 months of lockdown. I ordered a tub like this and add a cup or so of Dr. Teal's and ten minutes later, I feel unwound. Bonus rancho relaxo points if you drink a Magnesium drink like 'Calm' or Moon Juice's expenny version 'MagnesiOM' at the same time.
- I'm still doing Yoga Nidra (deep meditative sleep "yoga") twice a week and those night's I sleep very deeply and wake up restful. You can find classes on YouTube but I do them through my local yoga studio here.
What else? Have you heard about the Mariko Aoki phenomenon? Now you have.
The other day I watched the Watchmen series finale and The Thomas Crown Affair (the Pierce Brosnan one) on the same day. Both had the line “a worthy adversary” in them. I've been noticing a lot of synchronicity in daily life lately. Out of sheer boredom, I'm sure.
